They built a nudist community in your town and you are looking at a home there, are you willing to make this your permanent home, take your mail their inform your HR department at work your new address is 100 nudie way and if someone bring you home from work or a date picks you up the entrance say Sunshine Nudist Community - clothing not a option.

warmskin i'm am not going to pay out extra $$$ to keep my crazy relatives from knowing i have crazy ideas too.

Hmmm, I would keep two homes, and rent out a couple of rooms in the clothing required house, and get my mail there. I would then live in the nudist resort, in secret, because my relatives would think I was immoral/crazy for being a nudist. Too much trouble to bother with in informing them.

The things we have to put up with in life.

This discussion topic reminds me of a classic Groucho Marx quote, "I wouldn't belong to a club that would accept me as a member."

Naked is green.

I wouldn't live in a place that had an HOA again. Bad experience all around.

That said, I'd move to a nude or c/o neighborhood in a heart beat. My employer doesn't care as long as I can pass a drug test and perform on the job.

Yes, FP, a home owners association is a lot different from a nudist resort manager. Home owners all have an equal voice in the decisions which affect all the homes and property values. A nudist resort management company is a dictator who can decide on the property and access rules for the community.

Of course there have been some successful nudist resort areas with homes or vacation homes "owned" by individuals. I just would not invest a big part of my wealth to "own" a home there.

In some instances ... this could be correct but ... it's not the standard and it's not as wide spread as you make it out to be.

We live in an HOA community. It has a "board" comprised of home owners but there is a "management" company that is retained to do all the dirty work. Driving around and making notes on each and every home regarding violations to various idiotic rules ... only to have the "board" bend and twist to the "management" companies findings and pester the hell outta the homeowner for ... garden hoses on the porches, RV's parked in front of the house for 1 day!!!, landscaping that "they" feel needs trimming, painting that is unnecessary ... the list is endless and ridiculous.

I really don't see how many of the clubs around here operate as you say they do and from what I've heard from many friend and acquaintance ... HOA's are a bigger PITA then any club management or club board. If any club operates as ours does ... residents have much more of a say then a HOA community where you're nothing but an address. Like the nudist club board ... an HOA board member can be replaced ... all you've got to do is run for the position!

After further conversations with my wife, we are convinced that we will not be staying in this home for the rest of our lives (but who really knows), in fact ... we could be selling and moving in 5-7 years depending on the market.

If and when that happens (nothing's ever absolute) we will look for a much smaller place for a permanent residence and we've talked about a weekend place at our club. Something small, something large enough where we can entertain our nudist friends when they come to visit ... maybe three bedroom 2 bath.

They are available and they are affordable but ... just can't make that move just yet.

I sure would.

hmmmmm ...

I guess you'd have to look for a club/community that ISN'T run by a "manager" but rather a governing board of "residents!"... like ours.

well a simple thing got complicated but one place come to mind is Lake Como in Florida which is a co-op which seems to do pretty well, and as for shaky investment I can look at my house as shaky. I just think it would be cool to be able to ride my bicyle around the block, go to the pool or just go out to get the mail in the same outfit i'm wearing now - my skin. when I have visited places like Como or - - and seen the permanant homes there I was so jealous and always hoped for my retirement to be in a place like that and it didn't have to be so fancy but like FireProf i'm still waiting for the housing market to recover and I can get out of Dodge.

I would prefer to purchase a home in a standard gated community, with golf and a recreation facility, that had a clothing optional requirement in the deeds. That would be workable.

Seems to me that people take risks at most everything they do. Since when didn't buying a home become a risk ... no matter where it is. Hell ... we take risks just getting up in the morning and leaving the house.

I fail to see how buying a home in a nudist community is a larger risk than buying a home anywhere else. It's where some people would rather live and the "resale", sometimes, doesn't mean a darn thing to some.

I would move to a "gated" community with nudity allowed inside the gates, but not a community that restricts my guests from coming to my house, or where they must pick me up at the gate. The community should have an innocuous name like "Peaceful Pines," for example. The streets should have regular names such as, "Wilshire Blvd." or "124th Street." It don't have to be "in your face" with the names. Gated communities all have restrictive covenants in their deeds, limits on what kind of home you can build, what activities you can engage in. Allowing clothing optional throughout the community and on the golf course could be included in the covenants. But I would not live in a "nudiest" community that limits access by friends and families.

Yes I would! Although ... my wife is, currently, not that eager to reside permanently in a nudist community because she feels that it would limit the amount of time the grandkids might come to visit and stay as they get older. We are currently looking for a "weekend" place and a place to have our out of state nudist friends come and stay with us within that environment but with the housing market still in the dumper ... we still have to wait.
