Posted - 12/03/2010 : 04:48:21 AM I have read a question before from a mother whose 12yr old son began getting erections every time he was around her. He hadn't learned the birds & the bees yet so the mom had no clue what to do. How parents who raise their kids as nudists deal with the sex ed issue? Do they wait for puberty to start hitting or earlier? How do parents deal with this situation & those that may relate to this story or the subject? |

For my daughter, it happened around age 6. She was lounging around nude with her mother, when the topic came up. Very matter-of-factly, my wife explained the basics of procreation. It was a complete non-event; our daughter had seen us nude all her life, and was able to get an immediate grasp on the concept behind procreation.
The 12 year old's story, although a bit awkward, is by no means impossible. Back in middle-school, my friend and classmate related a similar story concerning his kid-brother, who might have been 10-11 at the time. His brother would come out nude after his evening shower, and wander a bit in his bedroom - with an erection. His Mom was baffled. It was my friend, the older brother, that took him aside and explained that his erection was disturbing his Mother, and to keep it covered. I don't know how nudist Moms deal with similar issues, since I have a daughter. But I'm guessing it's also not much of an issue. One nudist Dad once told me that his son's spontaneous erections were pretty much unsertsood and ignored by the whole family as they went about their business as usual.

Posted - 12/08/2010 : 8:24:32 PM You would think the 12 year old would have had some sex ed in school. Or they have some friends who fill them in on it or found something about it on the internet. Many kids know more about sex than their parents. It was awkward when I had to explain to my father was erectile disfunction was after he saw a commercial for it.
Was this mother who asked the question a nudist? Hard to believe a nudist wouldn't explain to her kids at that age the concept of the birds and the bees. Most non nudists would not have their 12 year old sons nude around them. This makes me think you may have fallen for a question asked by a troll or a perv somewhere. |

Posted - 12/04/2010 : 11:55:23 PM My parents were not practicing nudists, yet were rather casual with nude situations in the household. Both my older sister and I were exposed to a wide variety of science and culture with pre-bedtime readings. These ranged from how iron revolutionized society after bronze, life in a woodland pond, a history of money and banking, bird migrations, elements of nutrition, and, of course, how sex works in plants and animals including people. No special emphasis, just the same matter-of-fact presentation. I did much the same with my kids (both boys) who also got to witness kittens being born, and the younger one went to a nudist social event, but was alone within his age group. Most children used to grow up around farm and household animals, and the subject always ame up in repeated ordinary contexts. I find it very interesting that people who grew up with that type of off-hand background seem to have a better, deeper and wider appreciation of the psychologic differences between male and female patterns and how they function together in a healthy system. |
