I have a genital piercing. It was painful at the time of piercing - for about 10 seconds. Healing took a few weeks but it was not painful. Urination was not painful. I can understand the great fear expressed by some about how painful it must be, but really, it is far less painful than a bad sunburn, a sprained ankle or stiff muscles the morning after a a day of hard exercise. I got pierced later in life because it was something I had wanted to do for years but hadn't had a chance to do. It is definitely a sexual piercing, and is meant to enhance my partner's sexual pleasure. In a nudist setting, the genitalia are exposed. It can't be helped. The fact that genitalia are sexual does not prohibit their exposure, so why should jewelry? If men enhance the size of their penis, obviously for sexual pleasure, are they to be banned from a nudist setting? Why not go the whole way along this tortured path and say that ear piercings are forbidden? Earrings and other ear jewelry can be sexy and sexually stimulating too. As for shaving, it's a nuisance, but if you've lived in a hot country with high humidity, body hair is just not comfortable, and can result in severe problems with jock itch, etc. And when one realizes how comfortable he or she is without the hair, it is not hard to decide to just keep it off or remove it permanently. Nudism is supposed to be a way to be free and relaxed. Why do so many people feel so obsessed with imposing their rules and restrictions and narrow minded views on others? Especially in a nudist setting, people should feel free to follow their own individual mode of self-expression, and there should be no thought of harassment over a bit of metal below the belt as long as there is no disrespect of others.

I've never even had my ears pierced and my fiance rarely, if ever, wears earings though she does have one piercing in each ear. I have two reasons for not piercing my ears,...first is personal choice; second is the large red mole on my left earlobe where a ring would be if I was pierced. I spent 8 years in the navy and resisted the peer pressure to get piercings and tatoos. I didn't want to get something just because everyone else was getting it. I asked myself if I really "needed" a tatoo or piercing and could not come up with a reason for shelling out the money for the tats or piercings. Money saved.

My wife just surprised me with a ring with a charm of a dolphin for my penis. I know that I will never where this at a resort, this is for the privacy of our home.

My wife and I both have our nipples and belly buttons pierced, and she also just recently decided to have her libia pierced (ouch), she had been thinking about it for sometime since she saw a women at a resort in California. She had to get the enough courage up to have it done, and she did it.

We enjoy wearing matching jewelry for our nipples and belly buttons, and we are always surprising each other with new trinkets

Since we are nude at our home 90% of the time it is fun.

Depending on the social limits and views of the organization it'll be okay.

IMHO: piercings are fine, rings surrounding the penis are fine as long as they are decorative and not to keep the penis in an erect state.

My Wife wears rings thru her inner labia. These are small, unobtrusive, and perform the same general function as a wedding ring. They are usually hidden by thigh fat, etc., unkless say, she is clumbing stairs with someone behind her.

We attended our first socially nude event last week with Melissa Starr, and I have deep doubts that anyone there had noticed them.

You have to distinguish between rings in the genital area of men and piercings. To me, piercings are fine; they are not drawing any more attention to the area then being nude is. If a man is wearing a ring around his penis and scrotum at the base, that is different, and wrong. It is definitely sexual.

Jewelry is jewelry, no matter where it is.

To get back on topic ; the last time I was on Levant, I saw many guys who were wearing some sort of 'rings' and this was on the small sandy beach that the island cherishes. There were all sorts of people on the beach, families included, and no-one seemed to care one way or the other. As a matter of fact, as someone said, once you've noticed that the guy is wearing one, the whole event is over, in that you don't keep staring at the ring because of where it is. You notice it and that's that.

Maybe I'm confused, but isn't it the intent that makes these things sexual or not? I have been a naturist for many, many years and I started shaving when my doctor suggested it would be a way solve my allergy to my own perspiration. It has worked like a charm and I can't see myself turning back. Yes, it's a bit more work, but the benefits outweigh that aspect. Since so many shave these days, it doesn't even draw attention because it has become so normal to see shaved genitals.

I personally would never have a piercing in that area. I just can't imagine the pain!!!!

I have my nipples pierced, and also my belly button.

My wife also has her nipples pierced and her and her belly button. She enjoys interchanging diff. jewelry items that she has received as presents throughout the years.

She has thought about other piercings, but also has shyed away. The pain!!!!

After many years of not shaving and slowly trimming her area smaller and smaller, I would not be to surprised if she thought about it.

This is entirely up to her, if she wants to have it done, I will support her in everyway.

Please bring on the warm weather to the Northeast, so we can enjoy the beach and pool at Solair!!!

The club I am a member of has no restrictions against body jewelry. A few of our members and guests have piercings as this has become increasingly popular. I have come to regard this as a form of self expression which is to me no different than any other form of body adornment like tattoos or choice of clothing. I am unconcerned that genital jewelry might draw attention to that part of the body because in reality, it does so only temporarily. I find it odd that nudists should regard the mere sight of genitalia whether adorned or unadorned to be "too sexual." If we are about body acceptance, we ought to regard the sight of genitalia as no more or less "sexual" than viewing a face. I am reminded here of the fact that some Renaissance artists in their depictions of Jesus very deliberately drew attention to His genitalia as a way of emphasizing His humanity in order to counter gnostic heresy.

As long as someone is waring body jewelry as mere adornment and not to keep him or her self in some state of sexual arousal, I do not understand peoples objections. What concerns me more about piercing is the medical risks involved - one should be aware of those risks before they chose to do this. As for me, the penis is too useful a part of the anatomy to be poking holes in it. I do find the idea of body jewelry appealing but I favor the non-piercing variety and would recommend and promote it as an alternative that is more body friendly. I also prefer body painting or temporary tattoos to the permanent kind. I have sent Shaver77 a PM with a website link for non-piercing jewelry and would be happy to do so for other interested parties.

I agree with Cheri,

Genital piercing is not appropriate for the naturalist enviroment. I also understand that it is a FAD these days to do so. Personal feeling aside. But as mentioned it brings to much attention where attention is not the point.

Shaving is a personal choice and has nothing really to do with nudism IMHO. I have been acquainted with non-nudists who shave. There's a whole topic area on this, and you might want to post there.

I personally don't like the metal. Also IMHO anything that draws attention to the genitalia brings sexuality into nudism. Many, many nudist clubs allow no genital jewelry and some even prohibit nipple piercings.
