Posted - 08/19/2009 : 2:36:42 PM Hi Lz3, could you say when the August Community events will be held at Gymno-Vita-Park?
My Gf and I have planned on being there the weekend of the 29th. Can't make it labor day weekend.

Posted - 08/02/2009 : 5:47:34 PM My significant other and I visited at Gymno-Vita Park today, and had a lovely time. We got there and the weather was not great, so we were alone in the pool and on the nature trail for a while, but after the sun came out the other guests did too and they were VERY nice, laid-back people. No one, staff or guest was rude or upset at our presence. We did not call ahead and they did not require us to get a brochure. I DO think that they are VERY careful about giving out directions as a safety and anti-nuisance precaution for their guests, but Lisa, the woman at the gate who does a 5-10 minute orientation with all first time visitors, was sweet and welcoming. Matt (I believe) was also very kind and welcoming during the tour. Then we were free to wonder. Guest and staff were in various states of dress--fully clothed to nude, and the atmosphere was beautiful.
We are planning to visit with them again next weekend-- possibly even camp with them, and we are hoping to go back for their August community event. All-in-all it was a wonderful first experience for us as our fisrt public nudist excursion.

Posted - 07/26/2009 : 08:15:02 AM My girlfriend and I have been to GNP twice. I found that the people were friendly enough, there is a click, IMO, only. The club is small, and the grounds are neat. Alnudecpl: Read my post on Sunburst Resort in Fl. We will be there this coming weekend in Rental unit #5 if you care to speak to us. Wayne & Doshia. Jul 31-Aug 1

VERY RUDE
Called to ask about taking out dog. Was hateful saying there were other dogs there and I'd have to watch mine. I said no problem, I never let them off their leash. Then, asked if they have any rentals where a dog could stay. Said no and hung up.
Called right back and they picked up after about 10 rings and hung right up without saying anything.
Figured we'd leave the dog at home, so I called back to get the address and she said she'd have to send me a brochure. I told her we were going to stop by today or tomorrow, but she said sorry, she has to send a brochure.
I can tell you she DOESN'T WANT VISITORS!!!
The address listed isn't found on mapquest. Oh well. |

Living in Alabama now as we do, we were looking for a place to go for the weekend I called Gymno-Vita and spoke with Bob the owner, the phone conversation turned a little sour after he just decided that there was no further need for conversation, because we had not requested a brochure from him, he gave me directions so fast that I could in no way write them that fast, he kept suggesting he send me a brochure, I said it was not doing much for this weekend now was it, we are a married couple and just wanted to visit a new resort with in the state in which we now live. He told me he had another call and did not have time to do all this, never put me on hold and never heard another phone ring, and then shortly after CLICK, he hung up. In all of our years of going to other resorts and places I have never been treated like that from any resort manager and or employee, the whole conversation on the phone with Bob at Gymno-Vita was really rude to say the least. Just sorry we live so far south in SE Alabama, I am sure we could muster up some folks to come visit us here? I do not normally speak out like this, but this was not something I expected from the only resort in the State of Alabama that we had decided to go visit. (Not anymore)
First of all, most parks in the US are just that and not resorts. Bob Truett is a great guy. Did you realize he does EVERYTHING there and may have been in a hurry to fix something. Perhaps new people were arriving. If you're AANR and/or TNS members did you tell him that. I can understand his reluctance to just let anyone into that sweet little piece of heaven. He keeps it clean and well maintained. I've been there. The people are lovely. Cheri

Posted - 06/28/2007 : 06:41:54 AM Gymno-Vita now has a web site of their own. All the current information can be found there. AANR also will direct you to the new site address. They can now be found at www.gvpark.com |

Posted - 08/17/2006 : 07:38:22 AM I want to let everyone know that the web link to gymno-vita park that is on the cybernude site is out of date. I can not contact anyone to have it removed or updated. For anyone that wants the current information on Gymno-Vita, you can navigate to it on the AANR site under the clubs and regions link. Otherwise, it can be reached directly at www.aanr.com/clubs/gymno-vita.html

Posted - 07/31/2006 : 6:46:37 PM Reb, When I first was in contact with Bob (1993), he always discriminated against other than couples/families. You're right the reason he hates destruction of life, even spiders, is that he was a curator of a zoo and really loves animals of all species.
AANR is just the umbrella and cannot control what its affiliated clubs do. The same as a Good Sam (RV membership club) cannot regulate who it allows and for how long or a Girl Scout troup how its members strive for badges and learn. Some troups are not even allowed to sew for fear of having one of the girls injured by a needle. Cheri

Posted - 07/31/2006 : 4:52:54 PM Cheri,
Thank you. I stand corrected; my wife and I had attended but admittedly it was about 10 years ago. At that time, single women were welcome but I suppose everything changes with time. As I remember it, Bob also had some silly rules against killing spiders, but like I said, it is his camp.
I can not, for the life of me, understand why AANR will allow their members who have these silly single policies. Do any females posting here really care if there are people of the single opposite sex attending the camp that they are? Shouldn't unacceptable behavior be the criteria for acceptance/rejection, regardless if they be female or male? It is a supply/demand thing right now, but the day will come when camps, like any business, will be thankful for any customer. When it comes to zoning and restricting, these camp owners should not expect an individual who they turned away to remember them friendly at the voting booth. Wounds of this nature heal slowly.
I can't say I am glad that Bob has chosen to also descriminate against single women too, but at least he is being consistant. When we were there, he also had some ideas that I thought were a little strange like no killing of spiders or bugs. I guess goes back to the days he was running the zoo in Birmingham. His wife, Lisa, is also one of the nices people you will ever meet. I had assumed that since he had kept the "you will never find any lonely single men" in his web site that he still had the no single males policy at his gate. I am glad to know he has changed because I have been telling people on an Alabama Nudist Yahoo group that the old policy was still in effect which I, obviously should have checked out before my comments. I will correct my mistake immediately. Thanks Reb

Single men will be refused at the gate regardless of their circumstances. I felt this was a little wrong but it is Bob's club and I respect his beliefs regardless of their logic. Still, it is a great place, just too bad about the outdated single male policy.
Reb, Single women are also refused entrance. My husband and I enjoyed our visit. Cheri
