My wife and I were in Florida the week of Thanksgiving and were able to visit both Apollo and Playlinda.

Tuesday, we drove from Orlando to Apollo. Due to the lazy mood we were in most of the week, we got a late start. The beach was not very busy which is good because the parking areas are small and miles apart. A walk of about 1/4 mile brought us to a spot where the nearest people were at least 100 yards away. My impression of the beach is that there is plenty of beach between the Dune boundary and the water. The water this time of year was not terribly cold. All in all, an enjoyable experience.

On Thanksgiving, we drove to Playlinda for the day, arriving at about 11:00. The parking area for the nude portion was full once we parked. The nearest parking area is just a short walk away however. Again, I didn't consider the beach crowded, most of the parking areas on the way to 13 had one or two cars, 12 and 13 being the exceptions. We baked in the sun for most of the afternoon with a little time in the water, still not terribly cold -- one couple down the beach played in the water for what seemed like 1/2 hour. I noticed a lot more clothed men wandering the beach. I also noticed a Park Service ATV driving the beach once and a two trips of a park service SUV on the road that runs up the Dune behind the beach.

My wife (who thinks I am a little off for wanting to run around without clothes) noted that nudism/naturism a primarily a "male" interest. While she was willing to accompany me on these excursions, she was unwilling to undress. I am hoping this is a gentle intro.

Hi,

I guess this could go more under a general posting, but I wanted it to be more Apollo specific. I’ve been going to Apollo, for a little under a year now, because that’s about as long as I’ve lived in Florida. I’m in a serious relationship, however she’s in college in VA, and is infrequently here to join me. I do go alone, but fear a male in his early twenties, can easily be given the stigma of either a gawker, or looking for male “company” of which neither are the case. I read posts about how approachable people are, but due to there being so few 22 year old males who just very much enjoy nudity in the States, I fear approaching people would be miss construed, and I guess people are sort-of standoffish about approaching me. My interaction with other beach goers has thus far been limited to asking a couple for a cigarette after the waves got a little over zealous and soaked myself, my towel and bag.

I go to Apollo a minimum of 3 times a month; I’d go more if I were less than an hour away. I find when I go alone, I spend less time there than if I had company, I am in no way trying to use this as a nude dating service, as I mentioned, I am in a serious relationship, and would like to spend more time at the beach than it takes for me to get there. As is, Apollo is one of my favorite places if not my favorite place to spend a day, due to the landscape and “dress code”. I very much enjoy being nude where it is acceptable, I unfortunately have no friends who share this philosophy, besides my girlfriend, as I mentioned before the 1,000 miles of separation presents a problem.

I guess I’m just looking for some friends who enjoy and accept nudity as a natural part of life. Hopefully my girlfriends will be moving in with me for the summer, and if anyone, or another couple is interested in helping me into a circle of friends that has thus far eluded me (by this I mean nudists) when she does come down we will be able to add another to the “would be gang”. I say a couple, because that might help her feel more comfortable if/when she comes down. I realize there are few people my age there, and that is not an issue. I usually wear a hat, sunglasses, read a book, and make my home on a Budweiser towel.

I was at apollo just before Christmas no problem at that time. Not many people there do to cooler weather but still a few.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm from the PS and maybe visiting New Smyrna -- its been a few years, and i had not idea I was that close to a spot. Is Apollo Beach still OK? I recall reading that if you hed to the southern most spot in the park and walk south... but also something about a crackdown. Its been a while.

shoobie, the beach you reach from New Smyrna is Apollo Beach. Playalinda is north from Titusville. Playalinda is south of Apollo. It looked like it might be possible to walk from one to the other, but it would be a loooong walk.

Is playlinda still OK?? I read something a few years back that there was a crack down...

I gather the best way to get there is still from the north down through the park from New Smyrna Beach??

Thx

Thanks for the FL beach reviews - they are GREAT.
We're looking for ashort weekend to get away from it all - including clothes. Was thinking about Haulover near Miami, but these sound just as inviting. Now, if the hurricanes would cooperate all would be well in the life of nudists.
Well, almost... (Gf is still a little, not sure about doing the "all over" nude thing.)
We'll work on that :>)

Playlinda sounds like a really beautiful place sea foam, especially this time of year.

My wife and I lived in central Florida for a year, and we loved Playalinda. It is beautiful, the people are very friendly, and you can have solitude or company, depending on how far you're willing to stroll across the golden sand. We really miss Playalinda.

Corasol:

Playalinda Beach is within the Cape Canaveral National Seashore on Florida's Atlantic coast. The closest big airports would be Orlando and Daytona Beach. There are two entrances to the park. The northern one from New Smyrna Beach leads to Apollo beach, and the southern entrance from Titusville leads to Playalinda Beach. I've never been to Apollo, only Playalinda.

Playalinda Beach is within Brevard County which has an anti-nudity ordinance. Since it is a National Seashore, the park rangers don't get involved in enforcement of the county ordinance. I've heard that every now & then some county police show up to enforce the ordinance, but that of the cases that have gone to court, none of them have held up. Just need to beware of this when going there. The nude part of Playalinda beach is where the paved access road ends. To continue north, must cross dunes to be on the beach side. So not likely county police can sneak up on anyone.

The beach itself is coarse sand. I go there for the miles and miles of deserted beach. Got caught one afternoon in a thunderstorm, and I was an hour and a half away from my clothes and car. Walked in the shallow surf to avoid being struck by lightning. Got very wet but makes no matter when clothes-free.

Du rien.

Eric

Playalinda is my favorite CO beach... there is NO WHERE ELSE in the world where you can walk for 10+ miles along deserted, undeveloped beach. Stash the clothes behind a dune, then just walk... an hour later, you're 4 miles away from 13 and your clothes, it's just you and the beach and the ocean. Very humbling. Very sensual. Big difference between being nude on a beach like Haulover with clothes within arms reach.
