My co-workers (except the boss) know about my skinny-dipping. (Maria) is easy going and accepts it without issue. I have had brief discussions with her about it. (Sean) is older and more conservative. He likes razzing me about it, but seems to understand that there is nothing perverted about it. Of course, I don't get embarrassed or flustered over his teasing, so he is letting up a little. Either one of them is likely to ask me how my weekend was with that sheepish grin on their face. When the boss is there, they will reference my swimming, but not my swimming attire.

Have a GREAT Day!
Kevin

Practically everybody at our workplaces knows about our skinny dipping, and have known for a while. It was not mentioned as any big deal. It just came up in conversation. It has not been a problem. It is important to have freedom to be who you are, and to mention nudism as a normal way to relax, to live, to vacation, or to socialize without fear of negative consequences.
It is understandable however that some people do not have that freedom at some workplaces. Been there in the past and know how that feels. That has been our experience in the past with some individuals, but we are not around those people any longer. Seems also that a big lawsuit could be won if someone were fired for simply being a nudist. Any lawyers viewing this thread?

Gee, I think if a company fired someone for being a nudist, they would open themselves up to a lawsuit. But maybe I'm wrong? I guess they could just say it was something else...

The last time I was at my chiropractor she noticed the sand falling off my sandals and asked if I had been to the beach. I said she had probably noticed my lack of tan lines also, and yes, I had been to the local nude beach. We talked a while and she finally said, "I should check that out sometime." So sometimes it's good to be open, but you never know.

My last "at-work coming out" was maybe a year ago or so, when I still lived in GA and worked in a leadership role for a rather large institution. One of the IT guys was hanging around our area; there were a couple of people from my staff there. I don't remember what led to that, but the IT guy, J., mentionned his backyard pool being clothing-optional. I told him I thought that was great. Then he mentionned his wife taking a liking to skinny-dipping. I told him I thought that was great too. Then he mentionned a nudist resort he'd visited and his wish his wife would accompany him; and asked me if I'd ever heard of it. My answer:

"Of course I've heard ot it. I've been there with my wife and daughter!"

One of the employees:
"Wait a minute...you went NAKED there?!" My answer:

"Duh...it's a nudist resort. Of course we went nude there."

After that, I got a couple of questions about my daughter, to which I just responded that she had no problems being a nudist kid; as a matter of fact she had quite a bit of fun with it.
Now...I didn't really fear being "reported", which could have easily led to my dismissal; because I was candid, without being proselytizing. I just answered a couple of questions, did not add anything, did not volunteer anything. And I knew my employees trusted me, cared about me, would have talked to me if they'd had issues with my answers instead of just reporting me. I think those are the keys to being open at work: trust and honesty without "volunteering."

We feel the same as "Steady." We don't go around announcing it but won't shy away from a direct question. I have never been paranoid of being a nudist ... NEVER. I think to be paranoid is to succumb to the misconceptions some people have about our lifestyle and we feel there's nothing wrong or bad about how we live or what we do.

Worse can happen just walking across the street and I'm not going to stay inside so I don't have to cross the street!

Loves being naked. Plays well with others!

we don't go around announcing it to the world, and we don't try to hide it either.
I haven't had tan lines for decades, so after gym time at work everyone can see my all over tan. The guys at work know we have a backyard pool so I get the occasional coment about not needing a swim suit back there.
There has been extra attention after returning from a winter time Caribbean holiday with no tan lines.
In the end, I think our attitude when people notice the allover tan helps keep co-workers off our backs. I don't act embarrassed or try to hide it. I just laugh off any teasing and if someone asks an honest question I give the an honest answer.
In the last few years, a few of our co-workers have admitted wanting to or even trying a nude beach.

I still think its too dangerous to let co-workers be aware of your being a nudist, being if they oppose it they can create lies to get you fired even though outside life has nothing to do with your job , dont kid yourself you would be amazed how many people get wrongfully fired for their views on things like politics, religion etc.

Nb came from a nudist family and we were married in 1994, so together we have been a nudist couple since 1994.
I was just in the beauty shop today and they always have questions because as they say I'm there coolest coustomer. Today it was about erections and shaving...
If you read the answer I wrote in my first time, I'm sure you will get a laugh.

We are a married couple Cee and Cay. Cee's coworkers know he is a nudist. Cay's co-workers do not. We work in places where the attitudes are so different that Cay's co-workers could never be trusted with this information. Some general friends, some family members, church members, and our church pastor all know we are nudists. There are still some people that we do not want to know about it.
We have been nudists since the 90's.
We get funny responses like, "we could never do that in front of others" or "you are braver than I am".
How long have you two been nudists?

nudesunguy----I agree I could have told my mom I was gay and she was going to say cool but I said mom I enjoy being nude so she goes oh ummm ok...not a very supportive mother for one who herself has gone to nude resorts...I only told one female co worker I used to work with I went to a nude beach she just took it as conversation probably assumed I was lying etc.

The world is so strange; someone comes out as gay and most people hug and accept them. Someone comes out a nudist and most people look for the nearest 10 foot pole.

When dealing with sensative issues and friendships, one should remember the old saying, "Those that matter, won't care; those who care, don't matter".

I recently moved to a relatively small city and have been in touch with a local non-landed nudist club. They are nice folks, and there are good reasons to join the club. And yet ... I have always made it a habit to keep the nude and textile sides of my life separate. (In life, one must pick one's battles with care, and the thought of explaining things to textile skeptics just makes me tired.) Maintaining that separation in a small town where everybody knows everybody is likely not a realistic possibility. It would be nice if simple nudity, even to those who don't care to practice it, didn't have a certain stigma attached to it, but that's not the world we live in. I'll have to decide pretty soon whether or not to join the local club, and the decision is turning out to be harder than I thought it would be.

We also live in a small town and have fairly high profiles as professionals here. It would not serve us well in our workplaces to be completely open about our naturism. Having said that, we did join the nearest landed club about 40 minutes away and have not regretted it. We do run into fellow members occasionally in the textile world, but everyone has always been discreet about the circumstances of the relationship.

There are any number of ways that our lifestyle could become more well known than we wish, but I worry least about anyone from the club causing that to happen. We also have a fairly wide group of textile only friends that know, but this is why they are our friends, they also understand why what we do is important to us.

I guess I'd have to say that our naturism is neither public knowledge, nor a big a secret. I don't have an issue about sharing about it with someone that either has a need to know or someone who I have a close relationship with. Our parents know, quite a few of our church friends know.

We have a montage of discreet photographs of the two of us hanging in our bathroom at home that make it pretty clear that we practice naturism. My rule of thumb is that if we know someone well enough that they might have reason to be in our bathroom, we probably know them well enough for them to understand that we are nudists.

The centerpiece of the montage is a photo I took of a sign at Haulover Beach..."Attention-Beyond This Point You May Encounter Nude Bathers"
